Detox from Religion: Part 4 The Reverse of the Curse: Jesus: Genesis 3:14-15; 21-24 & Acts 2:21, 41-47 & Galatians 6:1
Sunday, December 2, 2018 :: Brian Lightsey

This Sunday we conclude our series, Detox from Religion. We have been talking about detoxing from religion and how God created us to be lovers, not judgers. However, what do we do when we see sin damaging the people we love? How can we have a conversation about it without being judgmental?! God can reverse the curse from judgment to love, and we will learn how.

Detox from Religion: Part 2 The Sin of the Forbidden Tree: Pride: Genesis 2 & 3 & Matthew 9:9-12 & James 4:11-12
Sunday, November 18, 2018 :: Brian Lightsey

We were created to love, so why do we judge? Ever think about that?

In the book by David Kinnaman and  Gabe Lyons called unchristian: What a New Generation Really Thinks about Christianity…and Why It Matters, they found that 87% of Millennial Non-Christians think Christians are judgmental. Why is this number so high? Why is this our tendency?

This Sunday, we explore why we have such a hunger and compulsion to judge others, in our sermon series, Detox from Religion.

48:22
Detox from Religion: Part 1 The Goal of Creation: Love: Genesis 1:26-27 & Matthew 22:34-40
Sunday, November 11, 2018 :: Brian Lightsey

Do you need a detox from religion? Even though Jesus Christ did not come to give us another religion, too many of his followers seem to be addicted to religion, resulting in a hopeless legalism that burdens and a harsh judgmentalism that wounds. It is time for a cleanse from the toxins of religion which will produce a healthy life of love and freedom in Jesus Christ. This Sunday we begin our series, Detox from Religion.

In our polarized world, today's Church doesn’t seem to have the favor of those outside the church like we see in the New Testament. Why is that? Is it our message or could it be something else? This Sunday for a stand alone message entitled,Posture.

Debates and disagreements rage in government, business, schools, and homes about what is right and what is wrong.

How do we measure and decide what is right and wrong?

And how do we become people who more naturally do what is right?

This Sunday we continue our sermon series, Not Alone: A God for Your Situation, that is about God's names. We will seek to answer these important questions.

Life is full of conflict. In fact, either you have come out of a battle, are in a battle right now, or are headed into a battle. What battle are you fighting? What giant are you facing?

The absence of peace in our world is glaring. Mental illness, broken marriages, troubled children, mass shootings, political strife, racial tension, and nations at war.

How do we heal the brokenness of our sick world? Where do we find peace?

We address these questions as we continue our sermon series, Not Alone: A God for Your Situation, that is about God's names.

Not Alone: A God for Your Situation: Part 4 Provider (Jehovah Jireh & Jehovah Rohi): Genesis 22: 1-18; Psalm 23: 1-6

The popular psalm tells us that “the LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.” (Psalm 23:1 - NIV)

Can we really be in place where we “shall not be in want”? Can our needs be met? And if so, how?

This Sunday we continue our sermon series, Not Alone: A God for Your Situation, that is about God's names. We will discover a God who is our Provider.
