Hands and Feet of Jesus
Life Church is committed to helping people who need to experience God's love and hope in times of small and large-scale disaster. Because of that we organize relief efforts, and also work with a local agency, Austin Disaster Relief Network(ADRN), to provide donations, resources, volunteers, and prayers.
Current Disaster Relief Focus
Disaster strikes unexpectedly and can cause major disruptions. It can even limit access to resources associated with our most basic needs. We saw it at the start of the pandemic when store shelves were empty. We saw it with this recent winter storm when power and water were knocked out for days.
By taking the Preparedness Peace class, you can be prepared and have peace of mind when the next disaster strikes. Learn how to prepare yourself to take care of yourself and your family, so that you can also be in a position to help those around you. The topics of this class include: Why Prepare, Teamwork and the Power of a Plan, How to be Water Wise and Food Sense, Power Alley, Having a Safe Home, About Grab & Go Bags, and Establishing Home Security.
The class will be offered in the future on a day and time based on the interests of those who sign up. If you would like to take this class use the link below to sign up.
ADRN hosts training opportunities year-round to help you prepare to be the hands and feet of Jesus to households experiencing disaster.
Life Church sends teams to help with clean up (muck out) efforts during times of disaster. Currently, things are calm, but there is the potential for opportunities in the future.
Join us for an engaging and interactive dinner meetup where you will learn how you can partner with Life Church to help bring relief to those who need to experience hope in difficult times of disaster. You’ll also gain a few practical skills that will help you to minister to anyone facing disaster, large scale or personal. Our Disaster Readiness Meetups happen once a quarter.
