Life Church Missions

In Luke 9:11, it says that “the crowds followed” Jesus. It also says that Jesus “spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who needed healing.” (NIV) Jesus had incredible influence. People followed him not only because he taught them truth, but because he served them and met their needs. He taught them and gave truth. He also healed them and helped them. Jesus had irresistible influence because he had a sacred balance of truth and grace, teaching and helping, and showing and telling.

At Life Church, our goal is to follow the example of Jesus

He commanded us to “go and make disciples of all nations.” Teach about truth. He also gave us the example of reaching out to “the poor” (Luke 4:18 - NIV) and “the least of these” (Matthew 28:19 - NIV). This is about grace.

We strive to bring life to our world through God’s truth and grace both locally and globally. We believe people can use whatever abilities they have (teachers, nurses, construction workers, business people…) to make a difference. We are involved in local outreach efforts, have started five churches, and go on trips to under-resourced and unreached parts of the world.

Current Missions Opportunities:

CC Mason Elementary Partnership
Description: Partnering with CC Mason Elementary to meet needs as identified
Serving Opportunities:
•    Backpack Program: Provides groceries for the family of children who don’t get enough to eat on the weekends.  Shopping bags with a list of items needed are available for pick up by the congregation Sundays in the church foyer.  Bags are collected and assembled for distribution monthly.
•    Literacy Tutors: Committed volunteers tutor children (kindergarten-third grade) weekly at the school with the goal of every child reading on third-grade level by the time they complete third grade.
•    Other needs as identified
Frequency: Ongoing

Feeding the Homeless at a Soup Kitchen
Description: Serving meals to the homeless in Austin in a cafeteria-style setting
Frequency: Third Sunday of each month 10:30am-1:30pm

Kairos Prison Ministry
Description: Sharing the love, grace, and hope of Jesus Christ with people in prison
Serving Opportunities:
•    Cookie baking
•    Letters of encouragement
•    Inside Team (men only): Directly interacts with inmates (requires advance training and document completion)
•    Outside Team: Meal preparation, prayer, support for Inside Team.
Frequency: Two times a year

Casas por Cristo
Description: Partnering with Casas por Cristo to build home for needy families in to Acuna, Mexico and working with House of Hope, a foster care home in the area

Description: Working to bring good deeds and good news to the under resourced and unreached parts of northern India.

MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers)
In a MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers)group you experience authentic community, mothering support, personal growth and spiritual hope. While moms are in a MOPS meeting, their children are lovingly cared for in the MOPPETS program. MOPS will meet the 4th Friday of each month from 9:30-11:30am.
